RICS says housing market is starting to recover

According to data from the Royal Institution of Charted Surveyors, The UK housing market may be starting to recover from one of the worst downturns of recent times. According to RICS house sales are set to rise in 2013.

In December 2012, 24% more chartered surveyors predicted transactions to rise instead of fall over the first quarter of 2013. Also RICS noted that house prices has stabilised in December. The first time since June 2010 that there has not been a negative price balance.

The number of respondents to the data showing a increase in new buyer enquiries rose by more than 12% in December. This shows  the number of homes coming onto the market remained “relatively stable” according to RICS.

RICS also noted that Data from the Office for National Statistics showed that UK'S  house prices rose 2.1% in the 12 months to November 2012.
