More New Homes are the Answer

The Home Builders Federation’s latest report ‘Building a Recovery – Reconstructing our Regions’, highlights the ways in which tackling the housing crisis and delivering the homes needed by the UK can deliver real economic benefits.

Job Creation

Widely covered by the media, regionally and nationally, it shows that meeting Government projections will require an annual investment of £1.2bn via the New Homes Bonus, but that this will create over 215,000 jobs.

Boost Investment as well as Homes

Seen as a ‘win- win’ for communities nationwide, building new homes not only delivers housing for needy families, it also boosts local employment and investment.

Grasping the Planning "Nettle"

Key to creating the economic growth needed for a successful recovery, housing can play a huge part in this. If Local Authorities grasp the planning ‘nettle’, take up the incentives available, and release more land for housing (see earlier post the “New housing Pipeline” report), then as Stewart Baseley, chair of HBF says they can “…reap the rewards of development and start building the homes the country needs.”
